Nelson Ball Bubble Lamp
The Bubble Lamp was designed by George Nelson in 1947 using a material that was developed to mothball battleships. It made its commercial debut in 1952 and has been a staple of modern design since. Bubble lamps are made of a spun vinyl coating over a metal frame and produce a flattering, even light. The variety of simple shapes make them well-suited to almost any interior.
The Ball Bubble Lamp comes in three sizes, Small (12.75" diameter), Medium (19") and Large (26.75"). Exact dimensions are in the accompanying diagram, and the relative sizes of each can be seen in the comparison photo.
Each contemporary Bubble Lamp is hand-made here in Michigan using the same machinery and tooling as the original bubble lamps when they were made by Howard Miller.
